How to Pack Meesho Orders: Materials, Packing Video and Claims

Packing a Meesho order well comes down to three things: the right material for the product (a tamper-proof polybag for clothes, a box with cushioning for anything that breaks), a label that is stuck flat and fully readable, and an unbroken packing video for orders where a dispute is likely. The first two stop damage and failed pickups. The third is what gives you evidence when a wrong or empty return comes back.

Good packing is not about looking premium. It is about the parcel arriving in the condition the buyer expected, at the weight you priced for.

Materials by product type

ProductUseAvoid
Kurtis, sarees, tops, kidswearTamper-proof courier polybag, product folded inside a clear inner bagA carton, which adds volumetric weight for nothing
Bedsheets, towels, soft home goodsThicker polybag, or a snug carton for heavy setsLoose packing that tears in transit
Jewellery, accessoriesSmall box or pouch inside a bubble mailerSending small items loose in a large polybag
FootwearThe shoe box inside an outer polybag or cartonThe bare shoe box with the label on it
Glass, ceramics, liquidsCarton, bubble wrap, filler, liquids sealed and tapedAnything without cushioning on every side
Electronics accessoriesRetail box inside a padded mailer or small cartonPacking that lets the item rattle

Two rules apply to all of them:

  • Use the smallest pack the product fits safely. A bigger pack can move you into a heavier shipping slab, on every order. The maths is in our guide to Meesho volumetric weight.
  • Seal with tamper-evident tape or a tamper-proof bag. If a parcel is opened in transit, it should show.

The packing table, step by step

  1. Print the day's labels first, cropped and sorted by product, using the free label cropper. Packing one product at a time is far faster than picking each order separately. Amazon and Flipkart orders have their own Amazon and Flipkart label croppers.
  2. Check the product against the label: SKU, size, colour and quantity. A quantity of 2 or more is easy to miss, so look at it every time.
  3. Inspect the item: no stains, loose threads, broken parts or missing tags. A defect you catch here is a return you do not pay for.
  4. Fold or wrap, put it in the inner bag, then the outer pack.
  5. Seal, then stick the label flat on the largest face, with no tape over the barcode and no wrinkles across it.
  6. Weigh one parcel of each product now and then, to make sure packing has not crept over your shipping slab.
  7. Keep the packed parcels together by courier for handover.

Why a packing video matters

When a return comes back wrong, empty, used or damaged, a claim is how you recover the loss, and claims are decided on evidence. News coverage of Meesho's returns process has reported that video verification of packaging is part of it, and sellers widely report claims being rejected when the video does not clearly show the parcel and its label.

You do not need to film every order. Film the ones where a dispute is most likely: high-value products, products that get "wrong item" or "empty parcel" complaints, and anything you have had a rejected claim on before.

How to record a packing video that holds up

  • One continuous shot. No cuts, no pausing, from the empty pack to the sealed parcel.
  • Start with the item and the empty pack in frame, then show the product clearly: front, back, size tag.
  • Show the label close enough to read the AWB number and order ID.
  • Seal the parcel on camera and turn it to show every side.
  • Keep it in good light, on a clear table, with nothing else being packed at the same time.
  • Name the file by order ID and keep it until the order is safely past its return window.

Record returns the same way

The other half of the evidence is the return. When a returned parcel arrives, start recording before you open it: show the sealed parcel and its label on every side, then open it on camera and show what is inside. A video that starts after the parcel is already open is weak evidence, and sellers commonly report claims rejected for exactly that.

Raise claims quickly. Meesho has stated a short window for raising claims after you receive a return, so check the current limit in your panel and do not leave returns unopened for days.

What packing has to do with your account

Damaged-in-transit returns, "item not as described" and wrong-item complaints all feed into return rates and ratings, and those affect how much traffic your catalogues get. The connection is explained in Meesho account health and the cost side in Meesho return charges and RTO.

The habits that protect you are simple and repeat every day: check the item against the label, pack it tight and sealed, label it flat, and film the orders that are likely to be disputed.

Common packing mistakes

Label stuck over a seam or the bag's edge. It wrinkles, the barcode does not scan, and the parcel waits at pickup.

Tape across the barcode. Glossy tape reflects the scanner light.

Reusing old courier bags with an old label still visible. Two labels on one parcel causes misrouting.

Over-packing soft goods in cartons. Safe, but you pay for the air on every order.

Packing several orders at once without checking each label against its product. That is how size and colour mix-ups happen.

For direct and wholesale orders

Meesho orders come with their own label and invoice. For orders you sell directly, to a reseller or a shop, a packing slip listing what is in the box protects both sides. The free packing slip generator makes one with a large cash-on-delivery amount and a QR code to your shop.

FAQ

What packing material is best for Meesho clothes?

A tamper-proof courier polybag, with the garment folded inside a clear inner bag. It is light, keeps you in a lower shipping slab, and shows if it has been opened.

Meesho order packing kaise kare?

Pehle label print karo aur product se milao: SKU, size, colour aur quantity. Product check karo, achhe se fold karke tamper-proof polybag ya box mein pack karo, seal karo, aur label seedha flat jagah par chipkao. Mehenge ya dispute wale orders ka packing video zaroor banao.

Is a packing video compulsory on Meesho?

Not for every order, but it is the evidence that decides many wrong or empty return claims. Record it for high-value products and anything that often gets disputed, in one continuous shot that shows the label clearly.

Why was my Meesho return claim rejected?

Sellers most often report rejections when the video starts after the parcel was opened, does not show the label, has cuts, or when the claim was raised late. Record returns from the sealed parcel onward and raise claims quickly.

Should I put the invoice inside the parcel?

Most Meesho sellers only stick the label and do not enclose the printed invoice. If you need it enclosed, keep the invoice when you crop your labels.

How do I stop wrong size returns?

Pack-time checks catch mix-ups, but most wrong size returns start at the listing. Publish a size chart with real measurements taken from three pieces, and show the size tag in your images.
