Meesho Return Claim: How to File a Wrong Return Claim (2026)
By Vanshika - ecommerce seller & educator, @chitraabyvanshika (100,000+ followers)
If a Meesho return comes back wrong, used, damaged or with something missing, you can raise a claim from the Supplier Panel's Support section. You pick the issue, enter the sub order number, mark the parcel as "Intact" or "Tampered", and upload an unboxing video plus photos of the product and the shipping label. Meesho's published SOP gives you 7 days from delivery to raise it. Most claims fail on the video, not on the facts, so the video rules below matter more than anything else in this article.
The rules here come from Meesho's own document, the Revised SOP for Return & RTO Shipment Acceptance, which took effect on 15 March 2023. Meesho changes panel wording from time to time, so check the ticket screen for the current labels and window. The rules on video and parcel acceptance have stayed the same in that SOP.
What you can claim for
A claim covers a return or RTO parcel that does not come back the way it left. The SOP lists four cases:
| What you received | Example |
|---|---|
| Wrong product | You sent a cotton kurti, you got back an old polyester one |
| Damaged product | Torn, stained or broken in a way it was not when dispatched |
| Used product | Worn, washed, perfume on it, tags removed |
| Quantity missing | You sent a pack of 3, two came back, or the packet is empty |
A normal return in good condition is not a claim. You pay the reverse shipping on those, and the way to cut that cost is in our Meesho return charges and RTO guide.
Rule 1: accept every return parcel
This is the rule that costs sellers the most money, because it feels wrong.
Meesho's SOP makes it mandatory to accept every shipment, whatever its condition. If you refuse a torn or suspicious parcel at the door, the courier marks it "disposed". The parcel is not delivered, no refund is processed, and you lose the right to raise any claim for it.
So the right move with a bad-looking parcel is to accept it and record it properly. Never refuse it.
Rule 2: if the parcel looks tampered, say so on the delivery proof
When you accept a parcel that looks tampered with, write "Tampered/Disputed" in the remark on the electronic proof of delivery (EPOD). If you do not, the SOP says the parcel is treated as intact, and your claim becomes much harder.
The SOP defines a tampered parcel as one where:
- the outer packaging is visibly torn, damaged or in bad condition
- there is extra tape on it, other than the courier's own branded tape
- the label looks cut and pasted from another parcel
It also says what does not count. A parcel with no cuts and no extra tape is not tampered, even if the forward label is missing.
The SOP also asks sellers to use the OTP-verified delivery process, which creates a digital proof of delivery. All of Meesho's logistics partners support it.
Rule 3: the unboxing video rules
These are taken straight from the SOP. Break one and the claim is usually lost.
- Open the parcel on camera. If the packet was opened before you started recording, the SOP says it "will not be considered as genuine claim".
- Show all sides of the packet before opening. If any part looks tampered, hold the camera on it.
- Show the barcode while turning the packet. This applies to both RTO and customer return (RVP) claims.
- Make the label readable in the video, with the AWB number and order ID clearly visible.
- Record in one stretch. No pause, no cut, no second clip. One continuous video from sealed packet to product on the table.
- Move slowly and steadily so every detail is clear.
A simple filming setup
- Fix your phone on a stand or a stack of books above a clear table. Two free hands make a steadier video than one.
- Turn on a bright light. A dark video where the AWB cannot be read is a weak video.
- Start recording, say the date out loud, then pick up the parcel.
- Film the label close up, turn the packet through all six sides, then cut it open and lay out everything inside.
- Keep filming while you show the product's tag, size label and any damage.
- Stop only once everything is on the table.
Film every return, not only the ones that look wrong. A swapped product often arrives in a perfectly sealed packet, and you only find out when you open it. By then it is too late to start recording.
Extra proof that helps: weigh the parcel on a kitchen scale on camera before opening it. A packet that should weigh 400g and weighs 150g tells its own story.
How to raise the claim, step by step
- Log in to the Supplier Panel on a computer if you can. Uploading a long video is easier there.
- Click Support in the left menu.
- Choose the returns and RTO issue category, then the option that matches your case: wrong, damaged, used or missing product.
- Enter the sub order number of the order. It is on the return label and in the Returns section of the panel.
- In Shipment condition, pick Intact or Tampered. Choose Tampered only if you wrote "Tampered/Disputed" on the EPOD.
- Upload the unboxing video, a product photo and a photo of the waybill (shipping label).
- Write a short, factual description (templates below).
- Click Submit to raise the ticket.
- Track it under My Tickets and reply on the same ticket if Meesho asks for anything.
The SOP says the logistics partner validates the case and then the claim is resolved. Check the payments section afterwards to see whether money was actually credited, and do not assume an approved ticket means you have been paid.
Claim descriptions you can copy
Keep it short. State what you sent, what came back, and what the evidence shows. Replace the parts in brackets.
Wrong product returned
Sub order [number]. We dispatched [product, colour, size] with our tag. The return received on [date] contains [what came back], which is not our product. The unboxing video shows the sealed packet, the AWB [number] and the wrong item. Product and label photos attached. Please approve the claim.
Used or damaged product
Sub order [number]. The product was dispatched new with tags. The return received on [date] is [worn / stained / torn / tags removed], as shown in the unboxing video from the sealed packet with AWB [number] visible. Photos of the damage attached. The product cannot be resold.
Empty packet or quantity missing
Sub order [number]. We dispatched [quantity] pieces. The return received on [date] contains [quantity] / is empty. The parcel weighed [weight] against a dispatch weight of [weight], shown in the video. AWB [number] is visible throughout.
Tampered parcel
Sub order [number]. The parcel arrived with [extra tape / torn packaging / re-pasted label] and we marked "Tampered/Disputed" on the EPOD. The unboxing video shows the tampered part and the contents, which are [what you found].
Why Meesho claims get rejected
Almost every rejection comes from one of these:
- Packet opened before recording. The SOP is direct about this one.
- The video has a cut or starts after the packet is already in hand and half open.
- AWB or order ID not readable in the video.
- Tampered parcel, but no remark on the EPOD, so it counts as intact.
- Raised too late. The SOP window is 7 days from delivery. Raise it the same day so the window is never the problem.
- Parcel refused at the door, which ends any claim.
- RTO claim without Meesho branded packaging. The SOP says RTO claims are only open to sellers who dispatch in Meesho branded packaging. Without it, RTO parcels are treated as intact by default.
If a claim is rejected and your video meets every rule above, reply on the same ticket with the reason you think it was wrongly rejected. Do not open a new ticket for the same order.
Do not overdo claims
Meesho's terms let it refuse returns or compensation to a seller whose claim or return rate is high compared to other sellers. So:
- Claim only real cases with real evidence. A pile of weak claims hurts the strong ones.
- Never fake a claim. It risks your whole account for a few hundred rupees.
- Fix what you can on your side. Clear photos, honest size charts and good packing cut both genuine returns and the arguments around them. Our guides on packing Meesho orders and the Supplier Panel cover both.
Compensation on approved claims is usually based on an assessed value of the product, not always your full selling price. Work out what a return really costs you with the Meesho profit calculator before you decide how much time a claim is worth.
The daily habit that wins claims
- Keep the phone stand set up where returns are opened.
- Accept every parcel. Write "Tampered/Disputed" when it looks wrong.
- Film every return in one clip, label first.
- Raise claims the same day, with the template.
- Once a week, check My Tickets and your payments for credited claims.
If handling returns and tickets is eating your day, our Meesho account management service can take the daily panel work off your hands.
FAQ
How many days do I have to raise a Meesho return claim?
Meesho's SOP gives 7 days from the delivery of the return or RTO parcel. The panel is the final word if it ever changes, so raise every claim on the day the parcel arrives and the deadline never becomes an issue.
Meesho claim kaise kare?
Supplier Panel mein Support par jao, returns wala issue chuno, sub order number daalo, shipment condition mein Intact ya Tampered chuno, aur unboxing video, product photo aur label photo upload karke Submit karo. Status My Tickets mein dikhega.
What is the Meesho claim video format?
One continuous video, started before the packet is opened, showing all sides of the packet, the barcode, and the label with the AWB number and order ID readable, then the opening and the contents. Keep it bright and slow. Most phones record in a format the panel accepts. If the file is too big, record at 1080p instead of 4K.
Why was my Meesho claim rejected?
The usual reasons are a packet opened before recording, a cut in the video, an unreadable AWB, a tampered parcel without the EPOD remark, a late claim, or an RTO claim without Meesho branded packaging. Fix the cause for next time and reply on the same ticket if you believe the evidence was complete.
Should I refuse a tampered return parcel?
No. Meesho's SOP says refused parcels are disposed of and no claim or refund is possible. Accept it, write "Tampered/Disputed" on the delivery proof, and film the unboxing.
Can I claim on an RTO parcel?
Yes, if it comes back wrong, damaged or short, but per the SOP only sellers who dispatch in Meesho branded packaging are eligible for RTO claims.
