AI Product Photos for Meesho: 2 Free Prompts That Work

Here are the two prompts from the reel. Copy them, upload your product photo to Gemini, paste the prompt, and you get a professional image back in a couple of minutes. Free, no software, no photographer.

Read the section after them before you upload anything to your catalog though. There is one step people skip that turns a good image into a returned parcel, and on Meesho a customer return costs you around ₹153.

Prompt 1: plain professional image, no model

Create a professional ecommerce product image using this uploaded product.
Do not change the product in any way. Keep its shape, size, color, material,
texture, design, branding, and proportions exactly the same. Only change the
background and surroundings so they perfectly match the vibe and category of
the product. Make the scene realistic, premium, and suitable for marketplaces
like Meesho. Use professional lighting, realistic shadows, and a high-quality
commercial photography style. The final image should look natural and help the
product stand out while keeping the product itself 100% unchanged.
Image ratio should be 1000*1000 pixels

Prompt 2: lifestyle image with a model

Create a realistic lifestyle image using this uploaded product. Do not modify
the product in any way. Keep its shape, size, color, material, texture, design,
branding, and proportions exactly the same. Place the product naturally with a
professional model who is using or wearing it appropriately. Choose a premium
background that matches the vibe and category of the product, making the entire
scene look authentic and visually appealing. Use realistic lighting, shadows,
and commercial photography quality. Ensure the product remains the main focus
of the image and looks exactly like the original while only enhancing the
presentation. Image ratio should be 1000*1000 pixels

Want the full listing, not just the photos?

These two prompts handle the images. There are three more that write your title, description and search keywords from the same product photo - the complete set is in 5 AI prompts to build a Meesho listing.

How to actually run them

  1. Take a normal photo of your product on your phone. Daylight, plain surface, nothing fancy. The better this photo is, the better the output - AI improves presentation, it cannot invent detail that was never captured.
  2. Open Gemini and start a new chat.
  3. Tap the plus icon, choose image upload, and select your product photo.
  4. Paste the prompt and send.
  5. For the model version, upload the same photo again in a fresh message and paste the second prompt.

Two minutes, both images done.

The part the reel could not fit: where each image goes

This is where most sellers get it wrong, and it matters more than the prompt.

Meesho catalogs give you multiple image slots. They are not interchangeable.

SlotWhat belongs there
Primary imageProduct on a clean, plain background. Nothing else in frame.
Slots 2 to 7Lifestyle scenes, the model shot, close-ups, back view, scale reference

Your primary image is what appears in search results and the category feed. Meesho's guidance points at square images on a clean background for that slot, so a busy lifestyle scene there is the wrong tool - and it is the image doing the most work for your click-through rate.

So use Prompt 1 output as your primary, and ask for a plain background rather than a "scene" if the result comes back too busy. Use Prompt 2 output as a secondary image, where it genuinely helps: buyers want to see scale, fit and context, and that is exactly what a lifestyle shot provides.

Also worth knowing: the prompts specify 1000x1000 pixels, and published guidance on Meesho's minimum varies between roughly 1000 and 1500 pixels square. Ask Gemini for a larger square if you can get it, and check the current requirement in your own Supplier Panel at catalog upload. Bigger is safe; too small gets rejected at QC.

What Meesho rejects, regardless of how the image was made

These come up consistently across seller guidance, and they apply whether your photo came from a camera or from AI:

  • No watermarks or logos stamped over the image
  • No text overlays - no "Best Price", no "50% OFF", no shop name
  • No collages or multiple products in the primary image
  • Square format, product filling most of the frame
  • No borders or decorative frames on the primary image

If Gemini adds any of these - and it sometimes adds text on its own - regenerate. Do not upload it and hope QC misses it. A rejected catalog earns nothing while you wait to fix it, and rejections show up in the Quality section of your panel.

Now the honest part

Search whether AI images are allowed on Meesho and you will find two confident, opposite answers.

Photography studios say AI images violate authenticity policies and get accounts suspended. AI image tool companies say AI images pass Meesho compliance automatically. Both are selling you something - one sells photoshoots, the other sells AI credits. We have not found a neutral source stating a clear rule either way.

What we can tell you is where the actual risk sits, and it is not really a policy question.

The real risk is returns, not rejection

Read the prompts again. Both contain some version of "do not change the product in any way."

AI image models do not reliably obey that instruction. It is the single most common failure with this technique. What typically drifts:

  • Text on packaging and labels turns into nonsense letters
  • Logos and brand marks get redrawn slightly wrong
  • Printed patterns shift - a floral repeat rearranges itself
  • Fabric texture goes smooth and plastic-looking
  • Colour moves a shade, which matters enormously in apparel
  • Small hardware like buttons, zips and clasps changes shape

On a marketplace, an image that oversells the product is not a marketing win. It is a return. And on Meesho a customer return costs roughly ₹153 in reverse shipping, before you count the packaging, the labour and the hit to your listing quality. The full arithmetic is in Meesho return charges and RTO.

A prettier photo that lifts your click rate by 10% and your return rate by 5 points has made you poorer. That is not a hypothetical - it is the most common way sellers lose money on better-looking listings.

The model image deserves extra care

The lifestyle prompt is the more useful of the two and the more dangerous.

Buyers judge fit and drape from model images. If the AI renders your kurti hanging differently from how it actually falls, or on a body type that flatters it in a way the real garment will not, you have promised something the parcel cannot deliver. Apparel already carries the highest return rate on every marketplace in India. Do not add to it.

Use the model image for scale and context - how big is this, how is it worn, what does it go with. Not as a claim about how the fabric behaves.

The check that takes 30 seconds

Before any AI image goes into your catalog, put it next to the original photo and ask one question:

If the parcel arrives and the buyer compares it to this image, will they feel misled?

Specifically, check:

  • Is the colour the same shade?
  • Is the pattern identical, not rearranged?
  • Is any text or logo still readable and correct?
  • Are the buttons, zips and trims the same?
  • Does the fabric still look like the actual material?

If anything drifted, regenerate or use the original photo. Your original phone photo, honestly lit, beats an AI image that flatters the wrong product.

When to skip AI entirely

AI images are genuinely useful for background replacement, cleaning up a cluttered shot, and giving a catalog visual consistency. They are the wrong choice when:

  • Your product has printed text, a logo or fine branding on it
  • The exact shade is the selling point
  • The texture is what you are charging for
  • You sell electronics or anything with buttons, ports and labels

For those, a plain phone photo in daylight against a white sheet will serve you better than any prompt. It is not as pretty. It is accurate, and accuracy is what you get paid for.

What this does not replace

An image gets the click. It does not decide whether the order makes money.

Getting the price right does - product cost, packaging, shipping, 18% GST on fees, and a realistic return buffer. Run your product through the free Meesho profit calculator before you spend an evening on photos for something that cannot make money anyway.

And if the listing itself needs work, the full process is in how to sell on Meesho.

If you would rather not use AI at all

Two free tools do the safe version of this: the background whitener cleans a real photo's background to white without regenerating the product, and the image resizer gets it to the square size catalogs require. Neither changes what your product actually looks like.

FAQ

Are AI-generated product images allowed on Meesho?

We have not found a clear neutral statement either way. Photography studios say they breach authenticity rules; AI tool vendors say they pass compliance - both are selling something. What is clear is that an image which does not match the actual product causes returns, and a return costs you roughly ₹153. Accuracy is the standard to hold yourself to, whatever the policy says.

Meesho product image AI se kaise banaye?

Apne product ki normal photo lo, Gemini kholo, plus icon se image upload karo, aur upar diya gaya prompt paste kar do. Do minute mein professional image mil jaayegi. Upload karne se pehle original photo se compare zaroor karo - colour, pattern aur print same hona chahiye, warna return aayega.

Which image should be my main catalog photo?

The plain-background one from Prompt 1. Your primary image appears in search results and category feeds, and Meesho's guidance points at clean backgrounds for that slot. Keep the model and lifestyle shots for slots 2 to 7.

Why does the AI change my product when the prompt says not to?

Because image models rebuild the picture rather than editing it, so "do not change the product" is a strong request rather than a guarantee. Text, logos, printed patterns and fabric texture drift most often. Always compare against your original before uploading.

Can I use these prompts for Amazon and Flipkart?

Yes, the prompts work anywhere. The rules differ though - both platforms have their own image specifications and primary-image requirements. Check each platform's guidance rather than assuming one catalog of images passes everywhere.

Is Gemini free for this?

There is a free tier that covers this kind of use. Limits and plans change, so check current terms in the app.

Do I still need real photos?

Yes. AI improves presentation; it cannot capture what your camera never saw. Start with a decent phone photo in daylight, and keep using real photos outright for anything where printed text, exact colour or texture is the selling point.
