How to Sell on Meesho in 2026 - Complete Beginner's Guide (Step by Step)

If you've been thinking "meesho pe sell kaise kare?" - this guide is the complete answer. No fluff, no theory. By the end you'll know exactly what to do today to get your first product live on Meesho.
Meesho is the easiest marketplace in India to start selling on. Here's why most new sellers should start here:
- 0% commission on most categories - you keep the full selling price minus shipping
- No GST needed to start - you can register with a free Enrolment ID and sell within your own state in many everyday categories (clothing, home decor and more). Full details in our guide: selling on Meesho without GST
- Buyers expect budget products - perfect for new sellers sourcing from local wholesale markets
- Payments every 7 days - fastest payment cycle among the big three marketplaces
Step 1: What you need before registering
Keep these ready - registration takes 15 minutes if you have everything:
- A mobile number (this becomes your seller login)
- Email address
- GSTIN - or a free Enrolment ID / UIN from the GST portal if you are starting without GST (own-state selling only, and some categories like electronics still need a GSTIN)
- Bank account in your name (savings account works to start)
That's the whole list. No company registration, no trademark, no minimum investment.
Step 2: Create your Meesho seller account
- Go to supplier.meesho.com and click "Start Selling"
- Enter your mobile number and verify with OTP
- Add your email and create a password
- Enter your GSTIN (or Enrolment ID) - Meesho auto-fetches your business name and address
- Add your bank account details and confirm
- Set your pickup address - this is where the courier will collect orders from
Once approved (usually within a day), you'll see your Supplier Panel. This is your control room: catalog uploads, orders, payments, returns - everything happens here.
Step 3: Decide WHAT to sell (this decides everything)
Most new sellers fail at this step, not at registration. The wrong product means returns, losses and frustration. Three rules:
Rule 1 - Sell what Meesho buyers actually buy. Meesho's audience is value-conscious. Sarees, kurtis, home & kitchen items, jewellery, kids' products - these move in volume. A ₹2,500 premium product will struggle.
Rule 2 - Stay in the ₹150-₹500 sweet spot. Below ₹150, shipping eats your margin. Above ₹600-₹700, conversion drops and returns rise.
Rule 3 - Check the competition before sourcing. Search your product on the Meesho app. If the first page is full of listings with 10,000+ ratings at prices below your cost - pick a different product or a different variation.
Step 4: Upload your first catalog
In the Supplier Panel, go to Catalog Upload → Add Single Catalog. A catalog is one product with its variations (sizes, colours).
What makes a listing rank and convert:
- Photos: minimum 3-4, white or clean background, sharp, taken in daylight. Phone camera is fine - blurry photos are not.
- Title: include what buyers search. "Women Rayon Anarkali Kurti - Knee Length, Fully Stitched" beats "Beautiful Kurti New Collection".
- Size chart: fill it accurately. Wrong size info is the #1 cause of returns in fashion.
- All details filled: fabric, occasion, colour, pattern. Meesho's search uses these fields.
Step 5: Price for profit, not for hope
Meesho's 0% commission does NOT mean 100% profit. You still pay shipping (averages around ₹65 per order depending on weight and zone) and GST applies on fees. And returns are real - in fashion, expect 15-30% of orders to come back, and you pay return shipping. We broke down every deduction with worked examples in Meesho seller fees explained.
The formula that keeps you safe:
Selling price = Product cost + Packaging + Shipping + Return buffer + Your profit
Worked example for a kurti that costs you ₹180:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Product cost | ₹180 |
| Packaging | ₹10 |
| Shipping (avg) | ₹65 |
| Return buffer (15%) | ₹40 |
| Your profit | ₹60 |
| Minimum selling price | ₹355 |
Don't guess - run your exact numbers through our free Meesho Profit Calculator before you list.
Step 6: Your first order - what actually happens
- You get a notification in the Supplier Panel and app
- Accept the order within the given time
- Download and print the label and invoice from the panel
- Pack securely - use a proper flyer/poly bag, tape the label flat
- Courier partner picks up from your address - you never visit a courier office
- Payment lands in your bank around 7 days after delivery
That's the whole loop. Order → pack → handover → paid.
Common mistakes that kill new Meesho sellers
- Copying competitor photos. Catalog gets taken down, account gets flagged. Always shoot your own.
- Pricing without a return buffer. One month of 25% returns wipes out "profitable" listings.
- Uploading 2 catalogs and waiting. Sellers with 15-20 live catalogs get exponentially more visibility. Upload consistently for your first month.
- Ignoring the size chart. Wrong sizes = returns = losses + bad ratings.
- Quitting in week 2. New catalogs take 2-4 weeks to gain search visibility. The sellers who win are the ones still uploading in week 4.
FAQ
Can I sell on Meesho without GST? Yes - since October 2023 you can register with a free Enrolment ID instead of a GSTIN and sell in many everyday categories, as long as you sell only within your own state and stay under the turnover limit. We wrote a full guide: how to sell on Meesho without GST. When you're ready for a GSTIN (all-India selling + input tax credit), we can register it for you.
How much money do I need to start? You can start with ₹3,000-₹5,000 of inventory. Meesho charges nothing to register or list.
How long until my first order? With 10-15 good catalogs and correct pricing, most active sellers see their first orders within 2-4 weeks. With 2 catalogs and wrong pricing - possibly never. The variable is you.
Is Meesho profitable in 2026? Yes, for sellers who calculate before listing. The 0% commission model is genuinely the most beginner-friendly fee structure in Indian ecommerce - but only the sellers who price for shipping and returns keep the advantage.
