Couriers bill on chargeable weight - the higher of what your parcel weighs and what its size implies. Enter your box to see which slab you land in, how much you are paying for empty space, and exactly what to trim to drop a slab.

You are billed on the higher of the two weights. Here that is the volumetric one.

Your box is costing you ₹27.00 per order

The parcel weighs 420 g but bills as 1.50 kg because of its size. You are paying for 1.08 kg of air, about ₹8,100/month at 300 orders.

Save ₹7.00 per order by dropping one slab

Get chargeable weight to 1.25 kg or under, which is 250 g to shave. Since size is what is binding, a box around 25 x 25 x 8 cm would do it.

₹2,100 / month · ₹25,200 / year

You are exactly on the line. This parcel sits right on the 1.50 kg cut-off. One gram more and it moves up a slab.

How shipping is actually priced

Two numbers compete and the larger one wins. Actual weight is what the scale says. Volumetric weight is length times width times height in centimetres divided by the courier divisor - usually 5000, sometimes 4000. A light but bulky parcel bills on its size, which is the most common reason sellers overpay.

Slabs are cliffs, not slopes

Rates step up in bands rather than rising smoothly, so a 505 gram parcel can cost exactly what a 750 gram one does. The grams just past a cut-off are pure waste. Shaving a few of them sometimes drops the whole order into a cheaper band - permanently, on every future order.

What actually reduces it

Smaller boxes. Most sellers use one large carton for everything, so light items travel in a heavy slab. Right-size the packaging, protect only what needs protecting, and check where your typical parcel sits against the nearest slab line.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my shipping higher than my product weighs?+

Couriers bill on chargeable weight, which is whichever is higher: the actual weight on the scale, or the volumetric weight worked out from the box size. A light but bulky parcel bills on its size.

How is volumetric weight calculated?+

Length times width times height in centimetres, divided by the courier divisor. Most Indian couriers use 5000, some use 4000. A 30 by 25 by 8 cm box is 6,000 cubic cm, which at divisor 4000 bills as 1.5 kg even if the contents weigh 420 grams.

Meesho shipping charges kaise kam kare?+

Sabse pehle box chhota karo - zyadatar seller ek hi bada carton use karte hain aur halka saaman bhaari slab mein chala jaata hai. Doosra, slab ki line dekho: 20 gram upar hona aur 200 gram upar hona, dono ka kharcha barabar hai.

What is a slab and why does it matter?+

Rates step up in bands rather than rising smoothly. A parcel just over a cut-off costs the same as one much heavier in the same band, so the grams just past the line are wasted money on every order.

Do stickers or borders on my catalog image lower shipping?+

No. Some tools sell this as a trick, but the parcel has not become lighter or smaller, so any difference gets reconciled later. Promotional graphics on catalog images also breach image guidelines and can get listings pulled.

Are these rates current?+

They are a published slab ladder and rates do change. Open the rate card in the tool and paste your own figures from your supplier panel - the calculation is the valuable part, not our starting numbers.

Does delivery zone change the cost much?+

Yes. The same parcel costs noticeably less within your own city than across India. You cannot choose where buyers are, but it explains why two identical orders settle differently.

Figures are starting estimates - always confirm against your own seller panel. Verify current rates at supplier.meesho.com.
