Meesho Creator Club for Sellers: What a Sale Costs You

Most writing about Meesho Creator Club is aimed at creators. This page is for the other side of the transaction: you sell on Meesho, a creator featured your product, and the commission comes out of your settlement.
It is not a large deduction in isolation. It is also not free, and on a thin-margin product it can be the difference between an order that pays and an order that does not. Worth understanding before you opt anything into the affiliate catalogue.
Where it shows up
Creator commission on a Meesho sale appears on the order-level settlement, in the Payments section of the Supplier Panel, generally under recoveries rather than as a separate headline line. It is deducted on the order the creator link generated - not as a monthly bill.
Check a real order rather than trusting any published figure, including this one. Open Payments, find an order you know came through a creator link, and read the breakdown. Rates vary by category and by campaign, and the number in your own panel is the only one that applies to you. The full walkthrough of these screens is in the Meesho Supplier Panel guide.
What it costs, in rupees
Commission on catalogued products runs roughly 4% to 25%, commonly around 9% to 10% on mainstream fashion and home. Applied to a normal Meesho order:
| Selling price | Commission at 9% | Commission at 20% |
|---|---|---|
| ₹300 | ₹27 | ₹60 |
| ₹500 | ₹45 | ₹100 |
| ₹800 | ₹72 | ₹160 |
| ₹1,500 | ₹135 | ₹300 |
Now put that next to what you were already paying. A typical sub-500g fashion parcel carries around ₹65 in shipping, plus 18% GST on fees. On a ₹500 product where you were clearing perhaps ₹90 after everything, a ₹45 creator commission takes half of it.
That is the honest framing: creator commission is not a small extra, it is a second shipping charge. Whether it is worth it depends entirely on whether the order would have happened without it.
When it is worth paying
It is worth paying when the sale is genuinely incremental - a buyer who would not have found you otherwise.
Good cases:
- New catalogues with no ratings. A product with zero reviews does not rank. A creator video is one of the few ways to get the first twenty orders, and the reviews those orders produce are worth more than the commission.
- Products with a healthy margin. If you clear ₹200 on a ₹700 product, a ₹63 commission still leaves ₹137.
- Products that need demonstrating. Anything where the buyer's doubt is about size, fabric or how it works. Video answers that; a catalogue image does not.
- Categories with high return rates, oddly enough. A video that shows real scale and fit reduces returns, and a prevented return is worth more than the commission cost.
Bad cases:
- Products already ranking well. You are paying commission on orders you were getting anyway.
- Thin-margin volume products. If you clear ₹40 on a ₹300 item, a ₹27 commission leaves ₹13 and one return wipes out ten orders.
- Anything you are already advertising heavily. Ads plus commission on the same order is two acquisition costs on one sale. The ads side is covered in the Meesho ads guide.
Run the number before you decide
Do not decide this from a percentage. Decide it from your own settlement.
- Open the Meesho profit calculator and enter one real product - cost, selling price, weight, your actual return rate.
- Note the per-order profit it gives you.
- Subtract 9% of the selling price.
- If what is left is still a number you would accept, the affiliate catalogue is worth it on that product. If it is not, it is not - regardless of how much extra volume it might bring.
Do this per product, not per catalogue. Sellers routinely have one product where a creator sale is excellent and another where it is loss-making, and a blanket decision gets one of them wrong.
Making yourself easy to pick
Creators browse the same catalogue buyers do. If you want to be featured, you are competing for their attention the same way you compete for a buyer's:
- First image does the work. Clean, well-lit, product filling the frame.
- Title says what it is plainly. A creator scanning for "cotton kurti set" will not find "Trendy Attractive Women Fashion Combo".
- Keep stock in. A creator who features a product that goes out of stock mid-video will not feature you again.
- Price competitively within your category. Price is the hook in the video.
You can also make the content yourself. A seller who films their own product for Video Finds gets the order and keeps the commission, and knows the product better than any creator will.
FAQ
Does Meesho Creator Club cost sellers anything?
Yes, on orders that come through a creator link. The commission is deducted on that order's settlement, generally under recoveries in the Payments section of the Supplier Panel. Orders that did not come through a creator link are unaffected.
How much is the creator commission on a Meesho order?
Roughly 4% to 25% on catalogued products, commonly around 9% to 10% on mainstream fashion and home. On a ₹500 product at 9% that is ₹45. Check a real order in your own panel, because rates vary by category and campaign.
Where do I see the affiliate deduction in the Supplier Panel?
In Payments, on the order-level settlement breakdown, usually within recoveries. Open one order you know came from a creator link and read the full breakdown rather than working from the summary figure.
Can I opt out of Creator Club as a seller?
Products outside the affiliate catalogue carry a much lower commission of around 0.5%, and creators largely avoid promoting them for that reason. Your catalogue status is the lever, and it is worth reviewing per product rather than across the whole account.
Is a creator sale worth the commission?
It is worth it when the order is genuinely new - a product with no ratings, or one that needs demonstrating. It is not worth it on products that already rank well, where you are paying commission on orders you would have received anyway.
Should I make my own Meesho videos instead?
If you can, yes. Filming your own product for Video Finds gets you the order without the commission, and you know the details - fabric, fit, real size - that make a shopping video convert and reduce returns.
